Day program

Supporting independence and workplace success

Broadview Village offers day programs for adults coping with mental health challenges and/or dual diagnosis in a low-stress, structured environment. Individuals develop social and work skills, gain real work experience, and prepare for competitive employment.

 

People Learning Useful Skills (P.L.U.S.) Program


The P.L.U.S. Program is a community-based program helping individuals with mental health challenges and/or dual diagnosis develop social, life, and vocational skills.

Program Focus

  • Social and Recreational Groups – activities include music, garden and walking clubs, arts and crafts.

  • Social and Life Skills Groups – sessions cover budgeting, mindfulness, deep breathing techniques, daily stretches, and living with chronic conditions like diabetes.

  • Meals that Heal Program – participants prepare meals in an industrial kitchen for individuals at risk of homelessness, learning safe food handling, nutrition, menu planning, and meal prep.

  • Vocational Opportunities – engage in vocational skill development learning the skills required for competitive employment.

  • Transition to Competitive Employment – when ready, participants are referred to TEP or recruited for employment in the Affirmative Business, completing their pathway from skill development to meaningful work. 

  • P.L.U.S Partnership – participants not yet ready for competitive employment can join the P.L.U.S. Partnership, managing a small business collectively. Profits are shared, and participants learn business management skills while providing services to Affirmative Business and other customers.

Counselling
Each participant is assigned a Counsellor for goal setting, job readiness, employment support, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Counsellors provide supportive or crisis counselling, advocacy, and referrals as needed.

Admissions Eligibility:

  • Have a mental health diagnosis provided by a medical practitioner or clinical psychologist
  • Be 18 years of age or older

Transitional Employment Program (TEP)

TEP is a vocational program for adults coping with mental health challenges and/or dual diagnosis.

Program Focus

  • Providing supported employees with work skills training, job coaching, and real work for real wages.

  • Staff shadowing participants to encourage, counsel, provide mental health first aid, and liaise with customers.

  • Promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity through recruitment, person-centered planning, and community partnerships.

  • Empowering participants to contribute meaningfully to society while sustaining mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Admissions Eligibility and Contact Info

Affirmative Business

Affirmative Business is a packaging and light assembly business that supports individuals who are transitioning from the P.L.U.S. program and TEP program who are ready for competitive employment: Real Work for Real Pay.

Admissions Eligibility:

  • Must be referred by one of Broadview Village’s Day Support Programs
  • Job-ready individuals seeking light assembly or packaging work
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
